The entertainment world in general (cinema, circus, parks, zoo...) has for a long time ignored the welfare of animals. Why did you leave the horse alone? is the story of a horse that everyone blames when he behaves as animal in freedom, but that everyone praises when suffering.

Biography

Born in Meknes, Morocco in 1967. He lives in Paris and Casablanca. His first long feature film, Mille Mois, won the Best Debut Award at Cannes 2003’s Un Certain Regard and his films Le Mur and Trajets, were then shortlisted for Cannes Quinzaine in 2000 and won the Special Mention for Best Short Film at the 2000 Venice Film Festival. In 2000, The Rain Line was nominated for a Golden Lion for Best Short Film and in 2001, Far was nominated for Best Director, both at Venice Film Festival. Then in 2011, Death for Sale won the CICAE Panorama Award at the 2012 Berlin International Film Festival. Volubilis a Franco-Moroccan film was presented at the Venice Film Festival in 2017 and won the Bronze Tanit at the Carthage Film Festival that same year.
